Job Description

Purpose of the Role:

The Export Manager will be responsible for developing and creating new market opportunities and to grow and maintain current business in countries outside the boarders of South Africa.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

  • 5+ years of solutions and/or consultative commercial sales experience in Paint Retail and Industrial sectors,
  • Manufacturing/Paint industry in Sub-Sahara Africa (must have travelled internationally),
  • Familiarity with export documentation, cross-border duties, and regulations.

Other Requirements:

  • Availability to travel in Africa and remote locations as required by the role (up to 50% of the time)
  • Possess intricate knowledge of the business landscape in Sub-Saharan Africa, East Africa, and West Africa.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Promote, maintain, and increase Export sales in neighbouring African countries (Namibia, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Mozambique)
  • Identify new market opportunities in Sub-Saharan Africa, East Africa, and West Africa
  • Identify opportunities for intercompany supply of locally manufactured products to regions such as IMEA and APAC respectfully.
  • Execute market research and develop route to market strategies for each country.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver on customer’s requirements and improve customer’s satisfaction.
  • Report on sales and forecast for the territory to the Executive General Manager (South Africa), and corresponding stakeholders at ROSA.
  • Maintain up to date product knowledge to provide solutions.
  • Preparation and execution of market launches and product promotions.
  • Build own Sales pipeline and maintain CRM System.
  • Meet and succeed monthly GTO targets.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience and Requirements

  • A proven track record of conducting business in Africa and proven successes in revenue growth within the Retail, FMCG and local manufacturing sector.
  • Ability to independently execute & manage multiple regional strategies & key projects to meet and exceed sales targets.
  • Possess intricate knowledge of the business landscape in Sub-Saharan Africa, East Africa, and West Africa.
  • Ability to travel in Africa and remote locations as required by role (up to 50% of the time).
  • Strong working knowledge of the MS Office suite.
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills as required by a professional business environment of a global market leading company.
  • Full proficient English language is non-negotiable. Knowledge of French, Portuguese would be beneficial but not a requirement.
